SUPPLEMENT BUYER GUIDE

OEM vs ODM vs Private Label Supplements

The best sourcing route depends on how much of the product is already defined, how much customization is required and how quickly the buyer needs to move from idea to order.

01

Ready stock

The buyer starts with an available product and confirms its current specification, documentation, packaging and order details. This route can be useful for testing demand or starting with a smaller commercial step.

02

Private label

The buyer builds a brand presentation around an established product route. Label and packaging coordination are central, while the underlying product options remain subject to current availability and review.

03

OEM/ODM

The project starts from a broader brief and may involve working formulation, prototype development, production planning and more extensive packaging coordination. Feasibility must come before firm technical or commercial commitments.

04

How to decide

If speed and simplicity lead the decision, begin by checking ready stock. If branding is the main need, evaluate private label. If the formula, serving experience or presentation must be shaped around a specific concept, discuss OEM/ODM.
